West Virginian RMHC House Proves Donations Can Go Both Ways With all that the Ronald McDonald House does for its communities its hard to believe they could do anymore. Despite this, a home in Morgantown, West Virginia has risen the bar even higher, building care kits for workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 battle.           200 boxes filled with toiletries, snacks, and other amenities donated  to the healthcare workers and staff of WVU Medicine Children's at Ruby Memorial Hospital Executive Director for the Pittsburgh and Morgantown RMHC, Eleanor Reigel, wanted to give back to the community. “There are so many heroes that are working on the front lines and as part of our mission is to support everyone," said Reigel. Elementary School Kids Donate Soda Tabs to Roanoke Ronald McDonald House They say that Virginia is for lovers, and for the town of Covington, Va. a few children turned their incredible love of soda into a philanthropic act for their local Ronald McDonald House. Due to COVID-19 though, this yearly donation was delayed from May until November, allowing for even more collection time. Students at Covington's Edgemont Primary School, as well as at Jeter Watson and Patty's Dance Studio, collected 850 pounds of soda can tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House location in nearby Roanoke, Va.   Children from Edgemont Primary School standing in  front of their huge collection of soda can tabs. Valued at between 40 and 50 cents apiece, this amassing of tabs totals up to $6,000. This donation will go towards not only operating expenses for the Roanoke Ronald McDonald House, but also upkeep and potential future expansion. 

Matt Kenseth Drives RMHC No. 42 Car to 16th-Place Finish in Richmond Playoff Race For the second consecutive year, Ronald McDonald House Charities partnered with Chip Ganassi Racing to sponsor the No. 42 Chevrolet for a NASCAR Cup Series race. For 2020, that race came in the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond Raceway, where past champion Matt Kenseth drove to a 16th-place finish.  Ganassi's History with McDonald's, RMHC Since 2010, McDonald's has held deep ties with the Chip Ganassi Racing team, serving as a primary sponsor on their Chevrolets in the NASCAR Cup Series. From 2010 until 2018, McDonald's driver was Jamie McMurray, in the No. 1 car. For 2019, McDonald's switched to the team car in the No. 42.  Ronald McDonald House Charities first appeared on the No. 42 car at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the summer of 2019.
